Be Human President Attends the 2025 Path to Peace Gala Dinner in New York
New York, May 19, 2025 – Olivia Serrano, President of Be Human, attended the prestigious Path to Peace Gala Dinner held at the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City. The annual event supports the work of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations and raises awareness for pressing humanitarian causes worldwide.
This year’s gala held special significance as it marked the 60th anniversary of Pope Saint Paul VI’s historic visit to the United Nations in 1965 and the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ address to the UN in 2015. In honor of these milestones, the 2025 Path to Peace Award was presented to His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See.
In his keynote address, Cardinal Parolin reflected on the upcoming 80th anniversary of the United Nations, urging a renewed commitment to its mission. “Freedom is not merely the absence of conflict,” he stated, “but the ability to seek the truth.” His words resonated deeply in a time when the values of peace and freedom require global solidarity.
A particularly meaningful moment for Be Human came when Melissa Sisniegas, a participant in the Be Human Global Leadership Program, delivered a speech highlighting her experience in international organizations. Her words were a powerful testimony to the importance of educating and empowering the next generation of global leaders.
Dr. Serrano was joined at the gala by close colleagues and friends from the International Solidarity and Human Rights Institute, reinforcing Be Human’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and the defense of human dignity.
